美国密歇根理工大学孙继广教授报告通知

由我校国际合作处资助,受理学院数学系郭玉坤副教授邀请,美国密歇根理工大学数学系孙继广教授将于近期访问我校,进行学术交流。孙老师将以Recursive Integral Eigensolver with Cayley Transformation为主题为我校师生做四次学术报告,具体报告信息如下,欢迎感兴趣的师生参加:

题目:Functional Analysis and Spectral Projection

摘要:Basic spectral theory, including spectrum approximation, in function analysis will be introduced. Spectral projection based on Cauchy integrals will be covered. Properties of the spectral projection will be proved.

题目:  Recursive Integral Method, the First Version 
摘要:We introduce the recursive integral method for non-Hermitian eigenvalue problems. The method, which overcomes some difficulties of existing methods, is based on spectrum projection. It is self-correcting, can separate nearby eigenvalues, and does not require an a priori spectral information. These features make the method well suited for large sparse non-Hermitian eigenvalue problems whose spectra are complicated. Numerical examples show that the method is effective and robust.

题目:  Recursive Integral Method with Cayley Transformation 
摘要: We shall discuss an improved version of RIM for non-Hermitian eigenvalue problems. Using Cayley transforms, together with a new indicator, the computation cost is reduced significantly. Numerical examples are presented and compared with 'eigs' in Matlab.

题目: Applications of Recursive Integral Method: 
摘要: We show some applications of Recursive Integral Method including the transmission eigenvalue problems, social network problems, localized quantum states, and some chemical problems. We shall also discuss some future improvements of RIM.

 

报告人简介: Jiguang Sun(孙继广),现为美国密歇根理工大学(Michigan Technological University)教授。本科毕业于清华大学应用数学系特拉华大学(University of Delaware)应用数学博士,北卡罗来纳大学(University of North Carolina)博士后,主要从事有限元方法,特征值问题,反散射问题,以及地球物理中的电磁方法等研究。主持美国自然科学基金2项,先后在《Inverse Problems》、《Journal of Computational Physics》、《 SIAM J. on Scientific Computing》、《Journal of Scientific Computing》等国际主流杂志上发表高水平研究论文近50篇,出版学术专著2,多次受邀到德国、加拿大、新加坡、中国等地发表学术演讲。
